Jennifer Houlahan
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and a Culinary Arts Certificate from Washburne Culinary Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Additionally, I have completed extensive post-Bachelor's coursework in nutrition and health care.
My previous work experience includes fitness operations manager, health educator, personal trainer, group fitness instructor, line cook, cooking instructor, coach, and children’s tutor. I was inspired to become a writer by my mother who is an accomplished copy editor and author. She taught me that the writing and editing process is never complete until you have achieved perfection.
I most enjoy writing about health and nutrition as preventive health education is a my greatest passion. Other areas of interest include fitness, cooking, family issues, frugality, business, entrepreneurship, travel, and the great outdoors. Finally, I am an accomplished endurance athlete who enjoys staying active through the frigid Midwestern winters. I live in Chicago with my beloved husband, mutt pup, and feral kitty.
